Wesson tennis stays perfect

The Wesson Cobras tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season last week with a dominating win over Bogue Chitto in the overall match by a score of 7-0.

In boys’ singles, Erich Fisher of Wesson defeated Caleb Avants of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In girls’ singles, Maya Granger of Wesson defeated Jenny Burkett of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In the first boys’ doubles match, Ray Drane and Reid Crow of Wesson defeated Chaney Rutland and Issac Cutrer of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. In the second boys’ doubles match, Skyler Rasberry and Drew Hulon of Wesson took down Nick Coleman and Keithshun Ratcliff of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

In the first girls’ doubles match, Kimberly San and Amber Brinson of Wesson defeated Terri Ferguson Ja’Taryah Ferguson of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. In the second match, Morgan Wesley and Shaylin Green of Wesson took down Kinley Douglas and Kasheya Heckard of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

In mixed doubles, Mary Beth Munn and Dakota Gray of Wesson defeated Makeirah Smith and Trequon Dorsey of Bogue Chitto in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

In junior varsity tennis, Wesson picked up four wins against Bogue Chitto in the overall match. Wesson picked up wins by Cooper Earls and Perry Farmer in boys’ doubles, Jasmine King and Allie Runnels in girls’ doubles, Kamryn Bridges and Vivian McRee in girls’ doubles and Anna Katherine Harrell in girls’ singles.

Wesson 7, West Marion 0

The Wesson Cobras also took down West Marion last week to move to 5-0 on the season with a 7-0 win in the overall match.

In boys’ singles, Erich Fisher of Wesson defeated Ian Buker of West Marion in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In girls’ singles, Maya Granger of Wesson defeated Mandy Domine of West Marion in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In the first boys’ doubles match, Ray Drane and Reid Crow of Wesson took down Sammie Broom and Keyon Brister of West Marion in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. In the second match, Skyler Rasberry and Drew Hulon of Wesson defeated Trevor Slocum and Matthew Broom of West Marion in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.

In the first girls’ doubles match, Kimberly San and Amber Brinson of Wesson took down Brianna Beasley and Colin Yancy of West Marion in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. West Marion forfeited the second girls’ doubles match.

West Marion forfeited the mixed doubles match to give Wesson the 7-0 match victory.
