Arrest made in burglaries

A string of burglaries in four counties may have come to an endas a suspect was arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies lastweek.

Chad J. Stewart, 27, of Summit, was arrested Wednesday andcharged in connection with a May 15 burglary of a Lincoln Countyresidence along with burglaries in Amite, Walthall, Pike andFranklin Counties, said Lincoln County Sheriff Lynn Boyte.

“He was charged with a burglary where antique furniture wastaken from a residence on Summit Drive,” said Boyte.

Investigators were able to recover the majority of the stolenitems, many of which had been sold at auctions. A few items havenot been recovered, but investigators have leads on them, saidBoyte.

“Some of the stuff is still missing,” he said. “Most of it wassold at auctions.”

Stewart was being held in the Amite County Jail on a $25,000bond.
