Roy Lee Dixon

Services for Roy Lee Dixon of Brookhaven are 7 p.m., Thursday,July 6, at Greenwood M. B. Church with burial at 10 a.m. Friday inGreenwood Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until 5 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary and from 6-7 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Dixon, 68, died July 1, 2000, at Southern Hearts Hospice. Hewas born in Norfield on March 23, 1932, to R. J. Dixon and OranellDixon.

He was retired after more than 20 years with New Orleans CementCompany. He was a member of Greenwood M. B. Church, where he was atrustee and the superintendent of the Sunday school. He was an Armyveteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother, LunaDixon; his son, Randy Dixon; and his brother, Ralph Dixon.

Survivors are his sons, Terry Gayten and Royce L. Dixon, both ofBrookhaven, and Roy M. Dixon of Memphis; his daughters, LindaCarter of Muskegon, Mich., Jacqueline Batteast of Brookhaven, DebraDover of Memphis, and Tsylyn Cage of New Orleans; his brother,Julius Dixon of Detroit, Mich.; his sister, Ladine Thomas ofSpringfield, Mass.; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Howard ofBrookhaven; and 15 grandchildren.

Clara Mildred Martin

Services for Clara Mildred Martin of Jayess are 2 p.m.,Thursday, July 6, at Saul’s Valley Baptist Church with burial inSaul’s Valley Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, July 5, beginning at 5 p.m. at Saul’sValley Baptist Church. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Martin, 78, died July 3, 2000, of a stroke at LawrenceCounty Hospital. She was born on July 11, 1921, to Deway Green andBertha Miller Green.

She was a retired seamstress with Kellwood Company. She was amember of Saul’s Valley Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, WilburnMartin Sr.; her brother, Melvin Green; and her sister, JuaniceGreen.

Survivors are her sons, Glyn Dale Martin of Leakesville, WilburnMartin Jr. of Sontag, and Terry Dewayne Martin of Jayess; herdaughters, Dot Hill of Jayess, Lucy Inez Shows of Ocean Springs,and Mary Sue Cuevas of Gulfport; her brother, Deway Greene ofSumrall; her sisters, Jewel Dixon of Mobile, Bobbie Dixon ofTheodore, Ala., Doris Bilbo of Lumberton, Charlene Gore ofColumbia, and Elizabeth Miller of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 17grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
