Franklin County holdsoff Philadelphia 4-3

NATCHEZ – The Franklin County All-Stars bounced back Mondaynight to take a 4-3 win over Philadelphia in the third round of theDixie Youth Baseball AAA State Tournament at Duncan Park.

Franklin County (2-1) faces the winner of Tuesday’s game betweenEast Central and Hattiesburg tonight. Game time is 8 p.m. atDalledo-Bowlin Field.

Franklin County (2-1) faces the winner of Tuesday’s game betweenEast Central and Hattiesburg tonight. Game time is 8 p.m. atDalledo-Bowlin Field.

In Monday’s win, pitcher Ryan Ratcliff led Franklin County with2 singles for 3 RBI. Hitting safely were Ben McDowell, John PaulSullivan, Matthew Lofton and Blane Abernathy. Ratcliff went thedistance, striking out six batters and walking five.

The losing hurler was Ethan Carter with four strikeouts and onewalk. Working the final two innings was Tyler McNeal with onestrikeout and one walk.

Justin Willis paced Philadelphia with 2 singles and 2 stolenbases. Doubling was McNeal. Carter, Westen Thomas and Ben Barrettsingled.

Philadelphia had loaded the bases with two out in the sixthinning when Ratcliff caught a grounder for the final out of thegame.

“After the Hattiesburg game, I thought we were left for dead,”said Franklin County coach Lance Murray. “We fought back and gotthe victory.

“We have to start hitting the ball better like we did indistrict and eliminate the errors,” added Murray.
