Services for Bessie Varnado of Summit are 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug.6, at True Light Pentecostal Church in McComb with burial inSpringhill Church Cemetery in Smithdale.

Visitation is Sunday, Aug. 6, from 1 p.m. until service time atthe church. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Varnado, 55, died Aug. 3, 2000, of heart failure at SMRMC.She was born in Amite County on June 17, 1945, to the Rev. AltonWells and Essie Lee Wells.

She was employed for a number of years with the McComb SchoolSystem in food service. She was a member of True Light PentecostalChurch, where she served on the Motherboard.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her brothers, EarlWells and Jessie Wells.

Survivors are her sons, Clint Bishop and George Bishop, both ofSummit; her daughters, Jacqueline Wells and Bernice Hughey, both ofSummit, and Sarah Hughey of McComb; her brothers, Clifton Wells andClayton Wells, both of Summit, Hilton Wells of Jamaica, N.Y., andGerome Wells of Kentwood, La.; her sisters, Rosa Holmes ofCharlotte, N.C., Pearl Robinson of Jamaica, N.Y., and GloriaSturdivant of Ash, N.C.; and nine grandchildren and a host ofnieces and nephews.
