Mary Katherine McManus

Services for Mary Katherine McManus of Smithdale are 2 p.m.,Friday, Aug. 11, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with burial inGreenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 10, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 1p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. McManus, 71, died Aug. 8, 2000, in Smithdale. She was bornin Wilkinson County on June 16, 1929, to Hiram Judson and MaryJuanita Wisner Ashley.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Concord Baptist Churchin Franklin County.

Preceding her in death were her brothers, W. J. Ashley, BillyWayne Ashley, James E. Ashley and Kennon Ashley.

Survivors are her husband, Troy McManus of Smithdale; herdaughters, Cheryl Dianne Mullins and Lois Kay Mullins, both ofNatchez; her son, Shelby Keith Smith of Natchez; her brother, ArlieAshley of St. Stevens, Ala.; her sister, Nelma Lee Murray ofCrosby; her stepchildren, Debra Bryne of Natchez and DarrellMcManus of Smithdale; and five grandchildren and eightgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St.Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

B. R. Terry

Services for B. R. Terry of Sontag are 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug.10, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Shiloh BaptistChurch Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Mr. Terry, 74, died Aug. 8, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lawrence County on Sept. 9, 1925, to BruceRoss Terry Sr. and Mary Zella Smith Terry.

He was a construction worker and heavy equipment operator and afarmer. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Marie IvyTerry; his daughter, Janice Terry Griffith; and his sisters, EddaMae Douglas, Hazel Jackson, and Irene Jackson.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and JackieTerry of Sontag; his son-in-law, Jack Griffith of Sontag; hisbrothers, Charles Terry of Jackson and Marshall Terry of McComb;his sisters, Louise Douglas of Lockport, La., and Nora Lee Saah ofHyattsville, Md.; and six grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, HeartAssociation or Diabetes Fund.
