Thunderstorm blows through West Lincoln

A thunderstorm that moved through Lincoln County around 3 p.m.Thursday toppled a few trees and power lines, and caused damage toa couple of homes in the West Lincoln area, said Civil DefenseDirector Clifford Galey.
Some trees covered roadways, while others blew down, bring powerlines with them, which sparked grass fires in two instances,reported Galey.
A porch and shed roof were blown off by the winds, along withthe a few shingles and the dugout cover at the baseball field atWest Lincoln Attendance Center. Residents also reportedquarter-sized hail in the area.
Although the damage was centralized to the West Lincoln area,other areas reported minor damage.
Galey was thankful for assistance in cleaning up the areas.
“Thank goodness for the response from law enforcement, volunteerfirefighters, first responders and the Mississippi ForestryCommission,” he said.
