Don Coleman and Paul Henning successfully defended their titleMonday in the Fourth Annual Tucker Smith Memorial Labor Day Weekend4-Ball Tournament. In Monday’s finals, Coleman birdied the 19thhole to win the championship in a sudden-death playoff on asweat-soaked afternoon. They defeated Danny Smith and ChandlerRuss.

Rhett Crowder and Steve Mills took consolation honors over HenrySwann and Kyle Smith.

“We beat the big boys from Jackson last year and we did itagain,” said Coleman. “There was a lot of tough competition.”

Tournament director Jeff Henning said he was pleased with theturnout. “This was our largest and by far our strongest field.”Sixty-four teams participated.

Henning said approximately $3,500 was raised for the LincolnCounty Habitat for Humanity.

In the championship flight, the opening round was Saturday,Steve Yawn and J.L. Wallace surprised pretournament favoriteCrowder and Mills in 21 holes, including 3 in sudden-death. Crowderis the 3-time state amateur champion.

Henning and Coleman, the defending champions, defeated HenrySwann and Kyle Smith in the opening round. Smith is the 3-time WolfHollow Golf Club champ.

Danny Smith and Chandler Russ defeated Jeff Henning and GeorgeHennington 1-up. David Coleman and Todd Coleman defeated MaxMaxwell and Greg Brookin.

In Sunday’s matches. Henning and Coleman defeatedColeman-Coleman 1-up after 20 holes. Smith-Russ defeatedWallace-Yawn 1-up.
