Police seek suspect in robbery

Brookhaven authorities are continuing to search for clues thatwill lead to the arrest of a suspect in the recent robbery of a gasstation.

Assistant Police Chief Arlustra “Pap” Henderson said thedepartment is looking for a dark-complexioned black maleapproximately 180-200 pounds, 5’8″-5’10” in his early 20s, inconnection with the robbery of B-Kwik on Highway 51 Sunday.

The suspect allegedly entered the store around 9:40 p.m. Sundayand bought a cold drink. He asked the cashier and her femalecompanion a few questions and went outside for a few minutes, saidHenderson.

“Then he (the suspect) walked back in the store and went behindthe counter,” he added. “He made the ladies lay down on the floorwhile he opened the cash register and took an undisclosed amount ofmoney.”

The suspect then allegedly ran out the door and stole one ofwomen’s vehicle, a 1998 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle was discoveredin Jackson on Monday, said Henderson.

A weapon was not used in the robbery and the women were unharmedduring the episode, Henderson added.

The Brookhaven Police Department is asking for help in solvingthis crime. They would like anyone with information about therobbery to contact the police department at 833-2424 orCrimestoppers at 823-0150.

“We appreciate any help that we can get,” said Henderson.
