PUCKETT – The Puckett Wolves punched in a fourth-quartertouchdown and held off the Loyd Star Hornets 14-6 Friday night.

PUCKETT – The Puckett Wolves punched in a fourth-quartertouchdown and held off the Loyd Star Hornets 14-6 Friday night. Itwas Loyd Star’s first loss in three games. The Hornets lost fourfumbles as Class 1A Puckett remained unbeaten in two games.

Loyd Star coach Anthony Hart said he accepted blame for theloss. “I did a poor job getting our team ready to play. Puckettplayed well and that was no surprise. We expected them to be goodand they were.”

Hart’s Hornets were limited to 194 yards total offense. Theyrushed 30 times for 99 yards and picked up 95 yards passing.

Puckett led 7-0 at halftime. Loyd Star scored in the thirdquarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Brad Britt. The PAT kickfailed and it was 7 -6.

Offensively, Britt completed 6 of 10 passes for 95 yards.Tailback Chase Coley rushed for 49 yards and fullback Adam Speeggained 27.

Coley caught 2 passes for 66 yards. Demarcus Barnes had 2catches for 19. Speeg caught 2 passes for 10 yards.

Defensively, Speeg led the Hornets with 13 tackles. CodyCovington made 12 tackles. Seth Britt had 6 tackles and a passinterception.

Derek Johnson recovered a fumble for theHornets.

The Hornets were penalized 6 times for 40yards.
