Sumrall rallies past Enterprise

SUMRALL – The Sumrall Bobcats remained undefeated as theyoutscored the Enterprise Yellow Jackets 35-20 Friday night in abattle of previously unbeaten teams.

Enterprise (2-1) was limited to 240 yards total offense and theJackets had four turnovers, two fumbles and two passinterceptions.

“We played a pretty tough team,” said Enterprise assistant coachScott Leggett. “They were tough.”

Enterprise held an 8-6 halftime lead on a 13-yard run byfullback Monti Crotwell and a 2-point conversion run by ShermaineVaughn.

Sumrall and Enterprise both scored twice in the third quarter.The Jackets got a 13-yard scoring run from Bent Boyd. QuarterbackJustin Kyzar threw a 38-yard TD pass to Crotwell for the otherTD.

The Bobcats (3-0) scored 17 unanswered points in the fourthquarter.

Vaughn was Enterprise’s leading rusher with 15 carries for 61yards. Kyzar completed 4 of 13 passes for 95 yards and wasintercepted twice.

Sumrall’s Patrick Preston, who had 13 carries for 109 yards andtwo touchdowns, and Alvin Robinson, who ran for 78 yards on 13carries and one touchdown, led the way for a Bobcat offense thatchurned out 252 yards on the ground.

A 40-yard halfback pass from Lionel Oatis to Robinson resultedin the first touchdown of the fourth quarter for Sumrall.Quarterback David Whitehead hit Oatis in the endzone for the2-point conversion.

Preston had his second touchdown of the night in the fourthquarter on an 11-yard run and the PAT failed. Josh Brelandintercepted an Enterprise pass to set up a 23-yard touchdown run byRobinson. Mark pace converted the PAT.

Tanner Graves put an exclamation point on the Bobcat win with aquarterback sack for a safety.

On defense, Vaughn led the Jackets with 8 tackles and aquarterback sack. Zach Smith made 7 tackles. Renald Skipper andWhit McGraw intercepted passes. Jacob Deere and Boyd interceptedpasses.

Enterprise hosts the St. Joseph Bruins Fridaynight.
