Hoyte Hart

Services for Hoyte Hart of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Wednesday,Sept. 20, at First Baptist Church with burial in Riverwood MemorialPark.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 5-10 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time at thechurch.

Mr. Hart, 76, died Sept. 18, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Bogue Chitto on Oct. 14, 1923, to EddieHarrison Hart and Clara Matilda Wallace Hart.

He was retired from Mississippi Employment Security Commissionwith 46 years service. He was a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club,where he served as secretary. He was an Army veteran of WWII,serving from 1943-45 in Normandy, northern France, and centralEurope.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a memberof the choir, a deacon, and a Sunday school teacher.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers,Harley, Herman, Wallace, and Hugh Hart.

Survivors are his wife, Lois Albritton Hart of Brookhaven; hissons and daughters-in-law, Deron Hoyte and Mary Elizabeth Hart ofAlbuquerque, N.M., and David Albritton and Sherry Hart of Houston,Texas; his daughters and son-in-law, Diane Davis of Mandeville,La., and Connie and Larry Boyd of Brookhaven; his sisters, Rosa LeeWallace and Elsie Nettles, both of Brookhaven, Lottie Smith ofBogue Chitto, Jennie Ford of McComb, and Peggy Gardner of OklahomaCity, Okla.; and eight grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 224 S. First St.,Brookhaven, MS 39601.

Dorothy T. Laird

Services for Dorothy T. Laird of Roxie are 10 a.m., Wednesday,Sept. 20, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. CarmelCemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 5-9 p.m. at FranklinFuneral Home.

Mrs. Laird, 81, died Sept. 18, 2000, of heart failure atFranklin County Hospital. She was born in Newbern, Ala., on Feb.23, 1919, to James Callie Thigpen and Inez Foley Thigpen.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and twodaughters.

Survivors are her sons, James Laird of McCall Creek, John Lairdof Bude, and Phillip Richards of Memphis; her daughters, Mary Lairdof Bogue Ridge, La., and Antoinette Richards Slay of Phoenix,Ariz.; and 13 grandchildren.
