MAGNOLIA – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers got back on the winningtrack Tuesday night with a 16-6 win over the South Pike Lady Eaglesin Division 6-4A play.

Brookhaven travels down Highway 51 Thursday evening to meetLincoln County rival Bogue Chitto. Action starts at 6 with a juniorvarsity game.

Brookhaven 16, South Pike 6

The Lady Panthers were looking to get back in the wincolumn after losing a close 11-9 decision to division leaderLawrence County last Thursday.

Brookhaven opened the scoring in the top half of thefirst. Ginny Dunaway singled. Samantha Boutwell walked. Threebatters later, Chiquita Rancifer singled to score Dunaway andBoutwell for a 2-0 Lady Panther lead.

South Pike bounced back in their half of the first totie the game at 2-2.

The Lady Panthers exploded for 7 runs in the second.Erica Wallace singled. South Pike proceeded to issue back-to-backwalks to Angela DeLaughter and Megan Bateman and load the bases.Kayla Allen reached on an error that allowed Wallace to score.Dunaway flied out to right centerfield. Two throwing errors by theLady Eagles cleared the bases of Delaughter, Bateman and Allen.Boutwell singled. Wallace reached on an error. Boutwell and Wallacewould later score as the ball was misplayed in the outfield.Brookhaven had realized a 9-2 lead.

South Pike would not go away and produced 4 runs in thebottom of the inning to cut their deficit to 9-6.

Brookhaven managed a 5-run third to extend theiradvantage to 14-6. DeLaughter singled. Bateman singled. Kayla Allenhit a grand slam to empty the bases. Boutwell walked. JulianaWallace smashed a 2-run homer to the outfield fence.

The Lady Panthers scored twice in the fifth, invokingthe 10-run rule after 5 innings.

Devine Porter singled. Juliana Wallace singled. As theball was retrieved by South Pike, it was bobbled; which allowedPorter to score and Wallace moved to third. Shameka Gilmoregrounded out to the pitcher. The throw to first was in time butWallace was able to score.
