Wesson board likes business upgrades

WESSON — During a short board of alderman meeting Tuesday,recent progress in the town was discussed.
Mayor David McGee commented on the expansion of a local gasstation, which will bring a new brand of gasoline to consumers.
“It’ll give us an Amoco station and three Shell stations intown,” he said about the improvements, which include expansions inother areas of the store.
McGee also complimented the co-owner, Melva Skinner, who waspresent at the meeting, on the efforts of her and her husband.
In other matters of discussion, Ward Three Alderman and MayorPro-tem Lura Greer gave a report on the Team City Conference sheattended in Jackson last week.
“It was really nice, and we had some of the best speakers,” shesaid, also mentioning the large number of towns and citiesrepresented at the convention.
Town officials also reported on activities surrounding theupcoming flea market on October 21 in the downtown area.
“We plan on cutting the grass and sprucing up Highway 51 nextweek,” said McGee.
Routine business was also conducted during the less than15-minute meeting. The board of alderman approved last month’sminutes, the meeting’s agenda and renewed a certificate ofdeposit.
The next scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m., November 7,at the town hall.
