Last Friday, Bogue Chitto defeated a tough Enterprise team 35-22in a key Division 7-1A matchup. Wesson was upset 41-6 by Richlandin a big Division 6-2A test.

Bogue Chitto head coach Carl Cole had some observations on theCobras. “Wesson’s fullback No. 6 (Billy Ray Miller) is a goodrunningback. We’re going to have to stop him on the option. Theirdefense is very aggressive and we have to find a way to stop theirdefensive speed.”

Dominique Addison powered the Bogue Chitto running game withseven carries for 100 yards in the win over Enterprise. JohnathonCutrer finished with 16 rushes for 88 yards.

Dailey Leader Offensive Player of the Week Denard Fergusonintercepted two passes and returned a kickoff for an 85-yardtouchdown. Ferguson also rushed the football eight times for 33yards.

On defense, Ace Wallace led the Bobcats with eight tacklesand four assists.

“They (Bogue Chitto) looked mighty good last Friday night,”said Wesson head coach Ronald Greer. “They have things turnedaround. I was real impressed with them. They have two wideouts ,No. 8 (Cody Wallace) and No. 88 (Scott Edwards) that catch the ballpretty well. Their quarterback (Jacob Leggett) throws the ballwell.

“We need to put a full four quarters together and playhard,” added Greer.

The top rusher for the Cobras was Billy Ray Miller with ninecarries for 76 yards. Miller also led the Wesson defense with 13stops.

Last year, Wesson knocked off Bogue Chitto 33-6.

Enterprise prepares for a visit fromDivision 5-1A Edinburg Friday night. Coach Ricky Deere’s YellowJackets are 3-2 on the season and 0-1 in Division 7-1A playfollowing a loss to Bogue Chitto.

In the loss, Jacket tailback Shermaine Vaughn carried thefootball 25 times for 191 yards and a touchdown. Brent Boydfollowed with 43 yards on seven carries and a TD.

Edinburg (1-5, 0-1) is coming off a 33-7 whipping at thehands of Union.

West Lincoln faces another tough Division 7-1A testwhen they hosts the Dexter Bulldogs for homecoming. The Bears,coached by Don Holston, fell to the Salem Wildcats 42-19 lastFriday. West Lincoln is 1-4 overall and 0-2 in divisionplay.

Dexter was a 24-7 victim of North Forrest. TheBulldogs stand 2-4 on the season and haven’t played a divisiongame.

West Lincoln fullback Stacey Fells scored twotouchdowns against Salem on runs of 11 and 33-yards. JeremyBranning caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback CodyMitchell.

The Bear defense was directed by Alan Skates with 12tackles. Branning made 11 tackles.

In last year’s match, Dexter thumped West Lincoln61-6.

Hazlehurst is coming off a tough 16-8 Division 6-3Awin at Amite County. The Indians are coached by Willie Brown andare currently 5-1 overall and 1-1 in divisionaction.

Another division test faces Hazlehurst when ittravels to Wilkinson County in Woodville. Wilkinson County (4-1,2-0) dusted division nemesis Jefferson County 58-14 lastFriday.

South Pike faces a Division 6-4A battle at CrystalSprings. The Magnolia-based Eagles ((3-3, 1-1) shut out rival Terry27-0 last Friday.

Crystal Springs (2-4, 0-1) was mauled 42-12 by theBrookhaven Panthers in a division tussle lastFriday.

South Pike shut out Crystal Springs 34-0 in lastseason’s game.
