W. Lincoln hosts Bogue Chitto tonight

A non-division match between Lincoln County rivals is scheduledtonight when the Bogue Chitto Bobcats visit the West Lincoln Bears.Game time is 7:30 p.m.
In Friday night local football action, Brookhaven visits Terry,Brookhaven Academy travels to Bowling Green, Loyd Star is atRichland and Enterprise travels to Dexter.
Area football action includes St. Andrew’s at Wesson, CrystalSprings at Lawrence County, Amite County at Franklin County, NorthPike at Port Gibson, Hazlehurst at Jefferson County and South Pikeat McComb.
Bogue Chitto, coached by Carl Cole, is 4-5 on the season and 2-1in Division 7-1A play following a tough 33-6 division loss sufferedat the hands of the Dexter Bulldogs last Friday. Dexter leads thedivision with a 2-0 record and still has two division gamesremaining.
“It’s a game we are looking forward to,” said Cole. “It’s a goodopportunity to play on a Thursday night. A lot of division is leftto be played.
“We probably hurt ourselves Friday night with the championship.West Lincoln has got better through the years. We are doing a fairjob throwing offensively.”
According to Cole, Enterprise has to beat Dexter by 12 or morepoints and keep Dexter from scoring at least 20 points. If Dexterscores 20 points, it doesn’t matter what Enterprise does. IfEnterprise won by 12, it’s a three way tie. Then, the total pointsgiven up by defense will determine first and second place.
Bogue Chitto quarterback Jacob Leggett completed 15 of 25 passesfor 205 yards and one TD in the loss to Dexter last Friday. Leggetthas passed for over 1200 yards this season.
Last Thursday, the West Lincoln varsity beat the North Pikejunior varsity 16-0. Coaching the Bears is Don Holstron.
In the win over the North Pike JV, West Lincoln sophomorefullback Stacy Fells paced the Bears with eight rushes for 113yards and a touchdown.
On defense, the Bears got 15 tackles from Blake Howse. Cody Hallfinished with 14 stops.
In the earlier division game, the Bobcats mauled the Bears45-6.
Loyd Star faces its toughest Division 6-2A testof the season when the Hornets visit the Richland Rangers. The 8-1Hornets, coached by Anthony Hart, are 4-0 in the division and havealready clinched at least a runner-up spot for the playoffs. A winover Richland would secure Loyd Star the division title.
Richland improved to 3-0 in the division and 8-1 on the seasonfollowing last Friday’s lopsided 55-0 whipping of Hinds AHS.
In the 51-14 homecoming win over St. Andrew’s last Friday, LoydStar’s ground game was powered by Derrick Johnson with 13 carriesfor 97 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Brad Britt completed3 of 6 passes for 50 yards.
On defense, linebacker Cody Covington led the Hornets with 11tackles.
Last year, Loyd Star smashed Richland 44-18.
Enterprise is coming off a 44-0 Division 7-1A win overthe Salem Wildcats and now prepares for a long trip to DexterFriday to face the Bulldogs. Coach Ricky Deere’s Yellow Jackets are6-2 on the season and 2-1 in division play.
Dexter stands 2-0 in division play and 6-3 on theseason.
Powering the Jackets last Thursday was Shermaine Vaughnwith eight rushes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Rushing sixtimes for 95 yards was Brent Boyd who scored two TDs.
Zach Smith directed the Enterprise defense with 12tackles.
In last season’s matchup, Enterprise knocked off Dexter36-12.
Wesson returns to the friendly confines of Stone StadiumFriday night to host the St. Andrew’s Saints in a key Division 6-2Amatchup. The Cobras, coached by Ronald Greer, improved to 1-2 inthe division and 4-5 on the season with the win atCathedral.
Directing the Cobra running game with 13 rushes for 108yards was Marcus Corley. Billy Ray Miller carried 10 times for 50yards.
Defensively, Miller led Wesson with 15tackles.
The Cobras handed the Saints a tough 46-6 whipping inlast season’s matchup.
Lawrence County had an open date last week to preparefor Friday night’s home game at Monticello against Division 6-4Afoe Crystal Springs.
The Monticello-based Cougars, coached by Danny Adams,stands 5-3 overall and 2-1 in division play. Crystal Springs (2-7,0-4) fell to division nemesis Terry 37-0 last Friday.
Last season, Lawrence stomped Terry 60-10.
Hazlehurst is on the road for its final Division 6-3Agame of the season when Willie Brown’s Indians invade Fayette toface the Jefferson County Tigers. Hazlehurst is 6-3 overall and 2-3in division play.
Jefferson stands 1-3 in division play and 2-7 on theseason. South Pike handed Jefferson County a 44-14 whipping lastFriday.
In last year’s contest, Jefferson thumped Hazlehurst30-16.
North Pike visits Division 6-3A Port Gibson Friday. TheSummit-based Jaguars, coached by Adam Barron, are 1-6 on the seasonand 0-4 in division play.
Port Gibson held off Franklin County 23-21 last Friday.The Blue Waves are 2-2 in division play and 6-3 on theseason.
The Jaguars were handed a 33-7 beating last year at thehands of the Blue Waves.
