Routine shopping day brings holiday surprise

A weekly visit to a local store resulted in more than just anenjoyable shopping trip for a Brookhaven woman recently.

Nikki Holloway brought home $200 in Hometown Bucks afterregistering for the DAILY LEADER’S Hometown Christmas promotionduring her routine visit to Millane’s last week.

“I usually go to Millane’s every Saturday, just browsingaround,” said Holloway. “I was on the way out the door and juststopped to register.”

Holloway was extremely excited about actually winning at one ofher favorite shopping places.

“I feel excited, blessed, thrilled, just all of the above,” saidHolloway with her “bucks” in hand.

She was surprised to find out she had become the second winnerin the eight week promotion just by dropping her name in one of thepromotion boxes.

“I just couldn’t believe it. I was so tickled,” she said.

Holloway wants to share her experience with family and friendsby using the Hometown Bucks to purchase Christmas gifts forthem.

“I’ll probably spend it on my family and friends because Ialready have everything I want,” said Holloway.

Hometown Bucks can be spent at any of the participatingmerchants. Holloway knows that with 12 merchants to chose from, itwill be easy to find gifts for her husband Dexter, herthree-year-old son, Dorian, and her two-month-old son, Miles.

Hometown winners can spend their Hometown Bucks at any of thefollowing merchants:

* Beyond the Rainbow

* Brookhaven Music and Sound

* Brookwood Gifts and Antiques

* Lofton’s Sporting Goods

* Millane’s

* Rushing Boots and Shoe Shop

* Shipp’s Florist

* Susan’s Shoppe

* T.H. Perkins Furniture Company

* Trustmark National Bank

* Walls Lumber and Supply Company

The 10th Annual Hometown Christmas is an effort of the DAILYLEADER and area merchants to encourage shoppers to buy locally inorder to benefit the community.

Shoppers may register at any of the participating merchants forthe weekly drawings by using the special entry forms and boxes ondisplay at any of the participating businesses. Shoppers may enteras many times as they would like.

There will be five more drawings for $200 in Hometown Bucks eachFriday, with a grand prize drawing for $600 in Hometown Bucks onFriday, December 15.

Employees of the DAILY LEADER are not eligible to win. Employeesof participating merchants may not register at their respectivebusiness, but they may register at any of the other participatingbusinesses.
