RICHLAND – Center Christie May sacked 18 points and the LoydStar Lady Hornets whipped Richland’s Lady Rangers 77-36 Mondaynight in a Division 6-2A contest. Monica Townsend and Dana Cokeadded 12 points apiece in the victory .

In the varsity boys game, Richland held off Loyd Star 72-71, ledby Keith Barry’s game-high 24 points.

The Lady Hornets (2-1, 2-0) were led on the backboardsby May with 13 rebounds. Jamakia Henderson had 4steals.

“It’s good to win a district game,” said Loyd Star girlscoach Lori Britt. “We can’t relax in any game.”

Loyd Star resumes play Dec. 1, in the Lincoln CountyRound-Robin Tournament at Enterprise. Loyd Star’s junior high is atNorth Pike on Monday, Nov. 27.

The Hornets (1-2, 1-1) got 23 points from guard BradBritt. Seth Britt added 15 points and Demarcus Barnes14.

On the backboards, Freddy Calcote led Loyd Star with 11rebounds. Tyrone Tyler had 8 rebounds and Seth Britt6.

“Richland hurt us on rebounding in the second and thirdquarters,” said Loyd Star coach Gene Britt. “We had a chance to winit at the end but we got clobbered twice. They (officials) didn’tcall anything.”

Seth Britt collected 3 steals for Loyd Star. Jared Brittmade 4 assists and Barnes 3.

The Rangers are 3-2 on the season.
