BA teams advance in Parklane tourney

McCOMB – The Brookhaven Academy boys and girls were Tuesdaywinners in the Parklane Thanksgiving Tournament. The Cougarswhipped Silliman Institute of Clinton, La. 64-45 and the LadyCougars defeated Oak Forest of Amite, La.
Both BA teams advance to Friday’s semifinals. The Cougars faceCentral Private Friday at 6:15 and the Lady Cougars play Sillimanat 4:45 in the semifinals.
The Cougars (5-0) were led on the backboards by Cole Smith with5 rebounds. Paul Coker scored 11 points and Turner Havard 10.
Brookhaven had 16 first-half steals and 15 deflections. BenDavis had 5 steals as the Cougars took a 48-19 halftime lead.
“We shot the ball real well the first half and our full-courtpressure caused a lot of turnovers,” said Brookhaven Academy boyscoach Dale Watts. The Cougars made 55 percent of their 2-pointfield goal attempts and 50 percent from 3-point range.
Junior High Results
In a boys junior high game, Brookhaven beat Oak Forest 68-32,led by Jonathan Winborne’s 21 points. Cole Hodges added 9 points.Collins Case scored 8 points.
The BA jr. high boys play Parklane Saturday in the 4:15finals.
