BA girls crush Hillcrest

JACKSON – Senior post-player Lindsay Altman directed theundefeated Brookhaven Academy girls to a 55-34 win over HillcrestChristian Monday night.

In the varsity boys contest, Hillcrest rolled over BrookhavenAcademy 54-33.

Brookhaven Academy (11-0) led Hillcrest 10-2 after thefirst quarter and went on a 20-8 run in second-quarter action tolead 35-10 at the half. Brookhaven outrebounded Hillcrest 32-22 andforced 18 turnovers.

“Our half-court defense was really good,” saidBrookhaven Academy girls coach Barry Gray.

Adding support to the Brookhaven win with 10 points, 10steals and five assists was senior guard Katie Newman. LindseyPhillips finished with nine points and five steals.

For Hillcrest, Amy McDonald and Kerrie Russell led withnine points apiece.

Hillcrest 54, Brookhaven Acad. 33

Brookhaven Academy led 13-12 at the end of the firstinning. Hillcrest came back to outscore Brookhaven Academy 42-20 tosecure the win.

Turner Havard led 5-2 Brookhaven with 14 points. Nettingnine points was Ben Davis. Tops off the backboards with 10 reboundswas Paul Coker.

Hillcrest got 13 points from Mark Lee.

In the seventh grade boys game, Brookhaven Academywhipped Hillcrest 40-10. Jeremy Winborne led Brookhaven with 12points.

The Brookhaven Academy girls face Hillcrest againWednesday night in the Madison-Ridgeland Tournament. Game time is 7p.m. The Brookhaven Academy boys face Jackson Academy at8:30.
