MOOREHEAD – The Co-Lin men’s and women’s basketball teams swepta doubleheader from the Mississippi DeltaCommunity College TrojansTuesday night.

The Co-Lin women dumped Mississippi Delta 59-49 and the Wolvesmauled the Trojans 80-70.

Co-Lin 59, Miss. Delta 49

The Lady Wolves led the Lady Trojans by one point, 27-26at halftime.

“In the first half, both teams were sluggish and didn’tplay well,” said Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young. “Delta did agreat job of rebounding in the first half, getting 26 offensiverebounds. We didn’t do a very good job of blocking out. We need todo a better job of rebounding.”

Powering Co-Lin with 14 points and four rebounds wasTiffany Dales. Mandy Livaudais and Christy Brown followed with 10points apiece. Livaudais pulled down six rebounds. MelanieFairchild and Sharitha Simmons collected five reboundsapiece.

For the Miss. Delta, Sabrina Nelson led with 13points.

“Hopefully we can get the Thanksgiving Holidays out ofour system and play more to our potential,” added Young. “Hopefullywe can work on our mistakes and get better on offense and defenseas the season progresses.”

Co-Lin 80, Miss. Delta 70

The Wolves held a 40-35 lead over the Trojans at thehalf.

“We were able to create some problems for them (Delta)defensively,” said Co-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims. “Twenty-fourturnovers is too many, but most of them came when we hadopportunities for a layup. We hadn’t played since Nov. 16th and itshowed.”

Directing the Wolves with 20 points, six rebounds, fourassists and three steals was Barry Whitley. Quentin Christiancollected 17 points and led off the backboards with 14 rebounds.Fourteen points was made by Brandon Dickerson. Collecting 12 pointsapiece were Rod Haynes and Marcus Calcote. Calcote also had 12rebounds.

Bruce Evans paced Miss. Delta with 20 points. Nick Sealsfollowed with 11 points. Grabbing eight rebounds was KennyGorden.
