Edith Irene “Girlie” Smith

Services for Edith Irene “Girlie” Smith of Brookhaven are 2p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5-9 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home.

Mrs. Smith, 83, died Nov. 29, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Franklin County on July 17, 1917, toWilliam R. Smith and Maggie Vaughn Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leroy L.Smith; her son, Roger Lee Smith; her son-in-law, Jimmy Foster; andeight brothers and one sister.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Glenn andAbigail Smith of Brookhaven; her daughter, Peggy Foster ofBrookhaven; her daughter-in-law, Juanita Smith of Brookhaven; andnine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
