WESSON – Co-Lin’s final tuneup before a South Division showdownwith undefeated Gulf Coast left a lot to be desired. The LadyWolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest National Junior College AthleticAssociation poll, toyed with winless East Mississippi Thursdaynight and beat the Lady Lions 80-55.

Gulf Coast visits Co-Lin (7-0) Monday night in Mullen Gymnasium.Tipoff is 6 p.m.

Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young was disappointed with his team’sperformance and said his Lady Wolves were still sluggish from lastweek’s Thanksgiving holidays. “We have been out of sync. Wecouldn’t make any outside shots.

“We had a short spurt in the second half when we played well. Wehave a lot to put together before Monday night.”

Young was concerned about freshman center Mindy Livaudais andher recovery time from a knee contusion sustained last night.Livaudais had scored 19 points before she fell on her right kneeand was forced to leave the game with 19:13 showing on the clockand Co-Lin leading 35-24.

Livaudais, a 6-foot post player from Chalmette, La., had an icepack wrapped on her knee after the game by team athletic trainerRob Steele. She sat out 10 minutes of the second half.

Joining Livaudais in double figures was sophomore forwardTiffany Dales of Alexandria, La., with 12 points and freshmanforward Vanessa Andrews of Bogue Chitto with 10 points.

Sophomores guard Rusti Smith and freshman center Christy Brownled Co-Lin on the backboards with 8 rebounds apiece. Dales andLivaudais each had 7 boards. Sophomore guard Sheritha Simmonsaccounted for 8 assists and 3 steals.

The Lady Lions (0-9), coached by Dale Posey, got 17 points fromKim Davis, a 5-10 sophomore from Meridian.

With 11:07 left in the game, Co-Lin boasted a 26-point, 56-30lead on a putback by Smith.
