Enterprise girls, W. Lincoln boys win county titles

West Lincoln’s boys romped to a 77-50 Saturday night victoryover the Loyd Star Hornets in the championship finals of theLincoln County Tournament. The Bears were powered by guad CodyMitchell with 27 points, including 7 treys.

In the girls championship game, junior forward Lacey Palomareznetted 14 points to spark the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets in alow-scoring 29-19 victory over the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats.

In the boys consolation game, Pierre Harthorne pumped in 18points to lead the 5-0 Enterprise Yellow Jackets to a 67-62 winover the Bogue Chitto Bobcats.

Christie May scored a game-high 29 points to power the Loyd Stargirls to a 63-49 victory over West Lincoln in the girls consolationgame.

West Lincoln 77, Loyd Star 50

The Bears (6-3) got 11 rebounds from Luke Lofton and 10 fromAdam Rushing. Jamie Sisco added 6 assists and Kalis Fells with5.

West Lincoln only had 10 turnovers. Loyd Star had 16.

“I’m very proud of our girls and boys,” said West Lincoln coachJason Case. He watched his boys roar 36-20 halftime lead.

Loyd Star got 5 rebounds from Tyrone Tyler. Demarcus Barnes had6 assists. Brad Britt had 4 steals.

“The first and last quarters were the keys to the ballgame,”said Loyd Star coach Gene Britt. “When you don’t rebound well, youusually don’t win. Our kids played hard.”

Mitchell and Sisco sparked a 23-point quarter with steals andpoints.

Enterprise 29, Bogue Chitto 19

“Both teams were a little worn our from last night’s games,”said Enterprise girls coach Billy Vaughn. Both teams playedovertime games Friday night.

Andrea Harthorne followed Palomarez with five points for theLady Jackets.

Jerrica McGary led Bogue Chitto with six points. Netting fivepoints was Randi Moak.

Enterprise 67, Bogue Chitto 62

The Jackets got added support from Kary Brown with 14 points.Rufus Allen scored 12 points and Shermaine Vaughn finished with 10points.

Carlos Brown and Denard Ferguson fired in 17 points apiece forthe Bobcats. Mac Howard netted 13 points followed by Tradell Blackwith 10 points.

Loyd Star 63, West Lincoln 49

Following May with 15 points was Dana Coke for the Lady Hornets.Beck Smith finished with 10 points.

Dana King had 24 points, including four 3-pointers for the LadyBears.
