Joe Bonfiglio

Services for Joe Bonfiglio of Brookhaven are 10:30 a.m.,Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church withburial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 8, from 5-9 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home, with the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Bonfiglio, 88, died Dec. 5, 2000, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on July 31, 1912, toVincent Bonfiglio and Emmanuella “Nellie” Giaconne Bonfiglio. Hewas a graduate of Tulane University.

He was a former hospital administrator in Caracas, Venezuela. Hewas a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he wasa former organist. He was a 4th Degree Knight in Knights ofColumbus. He was an Army veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his sister, Mary St. Amant of Biloxi; hissister-in-law, Gerry Bonfiglio of New Orleans; and a host ofnieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Lucille Prather Mattes

Services for Lucille Prather Mattes of Kenner, La., are 1 p.m.,Friday, Dec. 8, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMidway Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattes, 91, died Dec. 6, 2000, at her residence. She wasborn in Franklin County on Dec. 8, 1908, to Dock Prather andMalvina Campbell Prather.

She was a retired registered nurse.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dr. AbeMattes; her brothers, Dock Prather Jr. and Joel Prather; and twospecial nephews, Lloyd Prather and Bill Prather.

Survivors are her sisters, Ida Prather Kety of Picayune, IrenePrather Hill of Metairie, La., Trudy Mullen Harrigill ofBrookhaven, and Vera Prather Bolin of Garland, Texas; and a host ofnieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jessie Smith

Services for Jessie Smith of Chicago, Ill., are 11 a.m.,Saturday, Dec. 9, at Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Brookhaven withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. with thewake from 7-8 p.m. at Tyler Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith, 77, died Dec. 3, 2000, of heart failure at SuburbanHospital in Oak Park, Ill. He was born in McGhee, Ark., on Aug. 17,1923, to Felix Smith and Mackey Lee Oliver Smith. He attended DeshaHigh School in McGhee.

He was retired as a cookware polisher for Sunbeam Electric inChicago. He was an Army veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers,Roscoe, Murphy, and Spurgeon.

Survivors are his sons, Carl and Norman; his daughters, Irene,Hedy, Denise, Dorothea, Faye, Janet, and Alice; his sister, IreneSmith of Chicago, and formerly of Brookhaven, who recently moved toChicago to help care for him; and 20 grandchildren, threegreat-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gary L. Thrush

Services for Gary L. Thrush of Jackson, and formerly ofBrookhaven, are 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at Ascension LutheranChurch with burial in the church columbarium. Mark Seepe FuneralHome & Crematorium of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thrush, 60, died Dec. 5, 2000, in Madison. He was a nativeof Endeavor, Pa.

He retired from Delphi Packard Electric in 1992 with 29 yearsservice. He was currently in sales and marketing with Kineses Tool& Molding. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of AscensionLutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Smith Thrush of Jackson; hisdaughters, Tammy Lynn Harper of Ridgeland and Kelly Dee Drummondsof Palm Coast, Fla.; his sons, Edward Thrush of La Union, N.M., andKip Eric Thrush of Benton, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren, two sisters,and one brother.
