Vaughn, Haynes head All-Division 7-1A team

Defensive tackle Ken Haynes of Dexter has been named DefensivePlayer of the Year on the All-Division 7-1A Football Team andrunning back Shermaine Vaughn of Enterprise has been namedOffensive Player of the Year. The dream team was selected bydivision coaches.

Vaughn (6-1, 185), a junior, rushed for 1,052 yards and scored13 touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets posted a 6-4 record. Heaveraged 9.6 yards per carry. Vaughn caught 7 passes for 99 yardsand 1 TD. He had 20 returns for 689 yards and 2 TDs. On defense,Vaughn had 82 tackles and 1 interception.

Haynes (6-4, 240), a senior, led the Bulldogs to a 9-3 recordand the second round of the state playoffs. Dexter loses foursenior starters to graduation.

Randy Sumrall of Dexter was named Division 7-1A Coach of theYear. He has been head coach at Dexter for eight years.

Division runner-up Bogue Chitto placed four players on the FirstTeam in linebackers John and Ace Wallace, lineman Ernie Johnston,receiver Scott Edwards and defensive back Cody Wallace.

Enterprise players joining Vaughn on the First Team arelinebacker Zack Smith, guard Stuart Britt, defensive end Brent Boydand offensive tackle Kevin Harris.

West Lincoln has three First Team selections in linebacker CodyHall, tight end Adam Rushing and running back Kalis Fells.
