James Robert Johns

Graveside services for James Robert Johns of Monticello were 11a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery inHeidelberg. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johns, 80, died Dec. 7, 2000, of heart failure at LawrenceCounty Hospital. He was born in Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 10, 1920,to John and Hazel Hampton Johns. He had lived in Lawrence Countyfor the last 17 years, coming from Ventura, Calif.

He was a retired supervisor with Oil Field Electric. He was amember of the Christian Church in Richardson, Texas.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, AliceBrady Johns.

Survivors are his wife, Golda Miller Johns of Monticello; hisson, Robert Wayne Johns of Monticello; his stepdaughters, MaryJennings of Brookhaven and LaDonna Barnett of Jackson; and 10grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services for Eddie Johnson Jr. of Brookhaven are 1:30 p.m.,Sunday, Dec. 10, at Friendship M.B. Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, Dec. 9, from noon until 6 p.m. withfamily hour from 6-7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Johnson, 63, died Dec. 4, 2000, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Jan. 6, 1937, to Eddie Johnson Sr. andKatie Carter Uston.

He was disabled.

Preceding him in death were his mother; his son, DewayneJohnson; and his brother, Eddie Roy Johnson Sr.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his sons, CalvinJohnson and Devondas Johnson, both of Brookhaven, and LaPatrickJohnson and Darnell Johnson, both of Compton, Calif.; hisdaughters, Shante Johnson and Michelle Johnson, both of Brookhaven,Shanet Johnson and Eddie Ruth Johnson, both of Picayune, and TarneyJohnson of Compton, Calif.; his brother, Quinn Johnson ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Lorraine Johnson of Brookhaven, andCathryn E. Keys and Beverly Johnson-Williams, both of Memphis; and25 grandchildren.
