LAWRENCE COUNTY — A Lawrence County High School student waskilled early Friday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 84East, according to officials.

The student, whose name was withheld pending notification ofrelatives, was involved in a head-on collision with a gravel truckat the intersection of Arm Road around 7:30 a.m., said RobertPatterson, assistant fire chief with the Monticello FireDepartment.

The vehicle caught fire, and the Jaws of Life were used toremove the victim, according to Patterson. The condition of thedriver of the gravel truck was unknown this morning.
