CENTREVILLE -Senior guard Jake Sessums scored a career-high 30points and the Brookhaven Academy Cougars roared to a 92-64Saturday victory over the Centreville Academy Tigers.

In the varsity girls game, Brookhaven Academy crushedCentreville 69-29, led by guard Amy Smith’s 17 points and centerLindsay Altman’s 15 points.

The Cougars (7-4) were led on the backboards by centerPaul Coker with 14 rebounds. Turner Havard had 19 points and 12rebounds.

Cougar guard Craig Smith dished out 7 assists. LayneMoreton made 5 assists and 5 steals.

Centreville got 21 points from John Vincent and 19 fromDerek Sibley. The Tigers trailed Brookhaven 37-22 athalftime.

Brookhaven Academy resumes play Tuesday night at McCombParklane Academy.

The Lady Cougars (14-1) were sparked by Smith’s five3-pointers. Altman grabbed six rebounds. Anna L. Gatlin followedwith 13 points and five rebounds. Finishing with eight points,eight steals and eight assists was Katie Newman. Leah Davis andAlyson Lofton grabbed five rebounds apiece. Lofton also had fourassists.

Junior High Results

In the junior high boys game, Brookhaven (5-1) beatCentreville 53-16, led by Alex Davis with 10 points. JonathanWinborne had 7 points and Jonathan Watts had 6.

The BA girls (8-0) mauled Centreville 58-16 in thejunior high game. Scoring 10 points apiece were Jessie Altman andKelli Byrd. Mallory Logan finished with seven points.

Ashley Brazier led Centreville with ninepoints.
