Forwards Brad Britt and Seth Britt combined for 37 points inleading the Loyd Star Hornets to a 71-46 Monday night triumph overthe visiting Richland Rangers in Division 6-2A action. Brad Brittscored 19 points and Seth Britt 18 as the Hornets avenged anearlier loss at Richland.

In the varsity girls game, center Christie May scored 17 pointsas the Lady Hornets whipped Richland 67-35 to remain unbeaten indivision play.

Loyd Star hosts Brookhaven Thursday night, starting at 4 p.m.,with a JV girls game.

The Lady Hornets (6-2, 5-0) were led on thebackboards by May with 7 rebounds. Monica Townsend had 9 points and5 rebounds. Dana Coke made 6 steals.

Loyd Star led 31-13 at halftime. Coach Lori Britt said she wasable to substitute early. “It was a good district win for us.”

The Hornets (4-4, 3-2) avenged a 72-71 loss at Richlandlast month. Leading Loyd Star in rebounds was Freddy Calcote with 9boards and Seth Britt with 7 7. Point guard Demarcus Barnes made 7assists and 2 steals as the Hornets took a 35-27 halftime lead.Seth Britt had 3 assists and 2 steals.

“I thought we shot the ball well from the outside,” saidCoach Gene Britt., “We got some good post play from Freddy Calcoteand Jermaine Hunter. They had 24 points.”

Richland got 12 points apiece from Ted Williams andBryant Jenkins.

In the JV boys game, Loyd Star beat Richland 39-20, ledby Sidney Chester’s 14 points.
