Mr. Case, 60, died Dec. 16, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 29, 1940, to Wiley M.Case and Alma Anding Case.

He was a general construction worker, painter and carpenter. Hewas a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, and onesister.

Survivors are his daughter, Nancy Dupuis of Brookhaven; his son,Jason Case of Brookhaven; his brothers, Alton Case and Bennon Case,both of Brookhaven; his sisters, Carrie Belle Case, Loise Smith,and Mary Lou Smith, all of Brookhaven; and one granddaughter.

Lucille Cooper

Services for Lucille Cooper of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. James M. B. Church with burial inHillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 19, from noon until 7 p.m., withfamily hour from 6-7 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Cooper, 72, died Dec. 15, 2000, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 1, 1928, to PinkColeman and Aldena Ashley.

She was retired. She was a member of St. James M. B. Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, GeorgeCooper; her son, Gary Cooper; and her brothers, Marvin Johnson andEulis Black.

Survivors are her sons, Jimmy Cooper and Michael Cooper, both ofBrookhaven, and Wayne Cooper of Monticello; her daughters, LindaCooper and Sherry Spencer, both of Brookhaven; her sister, CostellaWilliams of Brookhaven; her brothers, the Rev. Ivory Ford of Flint,Mich., and Willis Black of Brookhaven; and 21 grandchildren and 16great-grandchildren.

Henry Nathan “H. N.” Johnson

Services for Henry Nathan “H. N.” Johnson of Brookhaven are 11a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Kynett Pilgrim U. M. Church withburial in Carver Heights Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., withthe wake from 6-7 p.m., at Tyler Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson, 91, died Dec. 14, 2000, of cardio pulmonary arrestat Countrybrook Living Center. He was born in Greensburg, La., onJuly 31, 1909, to Lacy Johnson and Lizzie Butler Johnson.

He was retired as a laborer with Columbus Lumber Company. He wasa member of Kynett Pilgrim U. M. Church, where he served as anusher.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Bessie;his second wife, Minnie; and his daughters, Willie Meater Keys,Betty Roberts, Audrey Henderson, and Carrie Mae Johnson.

Survivors are his sons, Charles E. Johnson of Charleston, S.C.,and Paul E. Johnson of Walterboro, S.C.; his daughters, Gladys MaeAmos of Saginaw, Mich., Mary Louise Bell, Linda Joyce Green, andMargaret J. Johnson, all of Chicago, and Annie Marie Johnson ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Nellie Morgan of Clinton, La., and AlmaCaldwell of New Orleans; and 31 grandchildren, 48great-grandchildren, 56 great-great-grandchildren, and a host ofnieces and nephews.

Luther M. “Tump” Newell

Services for Luther M. “Tump” Newell of Wesson were 2 p.m.Sunday, Dec. 17, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Red StarCemetery.

Mr. Newell, 75, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 20, 1925, tothe late Luther Prentiss and Susie Helen Britt Newell.

He was a retired oil field worker. He was a member of the Churchof Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a U.S. Navy veteran ofWorld War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a grandson, NicholasNewell.

Survivors are his wife, Virginia Hamil Newell of Wesson; hisson, Prentiss Newell of Wesson; his daughter, Vickie Case ofBrookhaven; his sister Audell Hinniant of Texas; and twograndchildren.

Dorothy Bailey Owens

Services for Dorothy Bailey Owens of Ridgeland are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Monday, Dec. 18, from 4-7 p.m. at HarrigillFuneral Home.

Mrs. Owens, 75, died Dec. 15, 2000, of heart failure atWhispering Pines Hospice in Ridgeland. She was born in Brookhavenon June 7, 1925, to Vence Bailey Sr. and Irma Greenlee Bailey.

She was a retired ceramic artist. She had worked for the city ofJackson, where she was over the parks division. She was a member ofthe Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, RileyOwens.

Survivors are her daughters, Janet O. Bourne of Crystal Springsand Patsy O. Kirkwood of Montgomery, Texas; her brothers, VenceBailey Jr. of Crystal Springs and Robert Earl Bailey of Washingtonstate; her sister, Pauline Moak of Brookhaven; and threegrandchildren and one great grandchild.

Inez G. Stewart

Services for Inez G. Stewart of Brookhaven are 1 p.m., Tuesday,Dec. 19, at Brookhaven Seventh Day Adventist Church with burial inRose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday, Dec. 18, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday fromnoon until service time at the church. Brookhaven Funeral Home isin charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stewart, 96, died Dec. 16, 2000, at her residence. She wasborn in Natchez on Jan. 24, 1904, to Richard Josiale Green and CoraChavey Green.

She was a homemaker and had lived the past 70 years in the samehome. She was a charter member of Brookhaven Seventh Day AdventistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, MarionClarice Stewart Leggett; and four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors are her husband of 79 years, Clarence E. Stewart Jr.of Brookhaven; her daughter, Edna E. Manley of Meridian; hergrandsons, Dr. Hugh V. Leggett Jr. of Brookhaven and Joseph PattenSwain of Meridian; and five great-grandchildren, Hugh V. LeggettIII, Brent Lee Leggett, Michelle Leigh Leggett, Brittney Kay Swainand Regan Leigh Swain.

Willis “Red” Boyd
