MENDENHALL – Nick Mikell’s 17 points led five Lawrence Countyplayers in double figures Saturday night as the Cougars rolled overthe McLaurin Tigers 76-49 in the Simpson County ShootoutTournament. The Cougars crushed Taylorsville in Friday’s openinground.

Darius Starks fired in with 16 points for Lawrence County.Finishing the game with 11 points was Steve Atterberry followed byTim Horton and Jerry Sims with 10 points apiece.

The Cougars, coached by Bobby Lee, blew out the Tigers in thefirst quarter to go ahead 26-2. At the half, Lawrence built itslead to 43-16 over McLaurin.

Lawrence County (12-2) plays again Thursday night in the EastMarion Boys Tournament. The Cougars face the host Eagles at 8:30p.m.
