Co-Lin women’s tennis ranked No. 15 in nation

WESSON – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) releasedthe fall national ranking and the Co-Lin Lady Wolves tennis team isthe No. 15 team in the nation.
WESSON – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) releasedthe fall national ranking and the Co-Lin Lady Wolves tennis team isthe No. 15 team in the nation. This ranking is derived from theregional tournaments held in October and the records of returningsophomores.
Sophomore Jennifer Bearry of Natchez made it to the semifinalsof the south region and was rewarded with a singles ranking of No.9 in the nation, the highest ever for a Co-Lin women’s player.Freshman Michelle Fisher of Natchez won the consolation bracket ofthe region while another freshman, Bethany Barr of Magee, playedvery well.
Sophomore Megan Rogillio of Silver Creek teamed with Bearry indoubles and they are ranked No. 18 in the nation.
Also playing key roles for the Lady Wolves are Mary Ann Jones ofWesson, Erin McIntyre of Florence and Holli Adams of Brookhaven(West Lincoln).
“Co-Lin can be very proud of what this team has accomplishedthis fall. To be ranked 15th in the nation with so many freshmen isa credit to the members of the team that work so hard,” said Co-Linwomen’s tennis coach Brenda Smith.
“We’ll need to show consistent improvement in order to competewith some very talented teams in the state.”
Regular season matches begin in February and run through thestate/regional tournament in April. The depth of talent in thewomen’s game is shown by two other Mississippi community collegesthat are also ranked nationally.
