Loyd Star teams advance in Mid-South jr. high action

The annual Mid-South Conference Junior High Tournament gotunderway Monday night at Loyd Star’s gym with four opening roundgames.

In the opener, the Bogue Chitto girls downed Dexter 30-17.Candace Braxton led Bogue Chitto with 10 points and Danielle Sasseradded nine. Natalie Ratcliff led Dexter with seven points.

The Dexter boys proved too much in the secondgame with a 70-31 win over Bogue Chitto. Undre Carter poured in 26points and teammate Rico Hanes chipped in 13 for Dexter. DanielHoward led Bogue Chitto with 20 points and Robert Bullock scoredfive.

The Loyd Star girls took care of Enterprise38-20 behind the 15 points of Brittany Henderson. Shara Johnsonaided the Lady Hornets with 12 points. Ashley Palomarez was theonly player in double figures for Enterprise with 10 points. KaylinBurke added six.

The Loyd Star boys defeated Enterprise 39-19.Josh Townsend led the Hornets with 12 points. He got help fromTyler Williford with seven points and Jason Smith with fivepoints.

Russell Brewer led Enterprise with nine points and TreyHerrington had four.

Action continues Wednesday with four games.

4 p.m. – Salem vs. Topeka-Tilton girls

5:15 p.m. – Salem vs. Topeka-Tilton boys

6:30 p.m. – West Lincoln vs. Wesson girls

7:45 p.m. – West Lincoln vs. Wesson boys

The semifinals are Thursday and the championship games are onSaturday at 1 and 2:15 p.m.
