Fire destroys house on Stone Hindge Trail

A house on Stone Hindge Trail was a total loss following aSunday afternoon fire, East Lincoln Volunteer Fire Departmentofficials said.

East Lincoln VFD Chief Ronnie Killingsworth said the firestarted around 1:30 p.m. at 2447 Stone Hindge Trail.

The homeowner, Wayne Gwin, had been living in Texas with hissister for several weeks but the electricity was still on,Killingsworth said.

“Nobody was in the house,” Killingsworth said.

There were no injuries in the blaze, which took until 5 p.m. toextinguish.

Killingsworth said the fire reignited around 3:30 a.m. Monday,and firefighters were going to let it burn out on its own since thehome was a total loss.

Killingsworth said there was good response from the EastLincoln, Hog Chain and Ruth volunteer fire departments. However,the fire had spread quickly by the time firefighters arrived.

“It was fully involved when we got there,” Killingsworth said,estimating 15,000-20,000 gallons of water were needed to extinguishthe blaze.

A cause of the fire has not been determined.
