King celebration set for Monday

The Mu Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity issponsoring Lincoln County’s 2001 Martin Luther King Jr.Celebration, which is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Alexander JuniorHigh School.

Bro. Winfred Frazier is the guest speaker and a receptionimmediately following the program.

This is the second year this organization has sponsored thecelebration. Dr. King was a member of Alpha Phi AlphaFraternity.

Frazier, a native of Houston, Texas, received his early formaleducation in the Houston Public School District. He earned abachelor’s degree in Bible and Marriage and Family Counseling fromMagnolia Bible College in Kosciusko.

For the past 14 years he has served as minister of the ThayerChurch of Christ on Springfield Trail in Bogue Chitto. Frazier hasalso served as the minister of the Center Street Church of Christlocated on Springfield Trail in Brookhaven for the past 15years.

In addition to his ministerial duties, he has served theBrookhaven community on the Democratic Executive Committee, theLincoln County Community Cooperative Planning Program and Habitatfor Humanity of Lincoln County. He is also actively involved in theprocess of the Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln County and RedmondDay Care and Preschool.

Frazier is married to the former Linda Alexander of Houston, andthey are the parents of two sons, Christopher and Brandon.

The Alphas are proud to announce that the ministers of LincolnCounty will provide musical selections for the program along withthe children of the Boys and Girls Club.

The women of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma ThetaSorority, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., are hosting thereception.

The theme for the program will be “Every Great Dream Begins witha Dreamer.”
