DEXTER – The Dexter Bulldogs solidified their position in thisweek’s Division 7-1A Tournament at Tylertown by sweeping WestLincoln. The Bulldogs claimed the No. 1 seed in the boys bracketwith a 73-58 win and the Lady Bulldogs did the same with a 59-40victory over the Lady Bears.

Dexter 73, West Lincoln 58

“Dexter pounded us on the boards,” said West Lincoln head coachJason Case. “The majority of their points came on offensiverebounds. You can’t win if you give someone second and third shotsat the basket.”

West Lincoln (19-6, 11-1) fell behind 19-7 at the end of thefirst quarter, but a 25-19 second quarter cut the lead to 38-32 athalftime. Dexter then held the Bears to nine third quarter pointsand pulled away.

Jamie Sisco led West Lincoln with 18 points and eight assists.He also canned two 3-pointers. Cody Mitchell added 14 points andCarlos Johnson and Luke Lofton each scored 10 points for the Bears.Lofton pulled down six rebounds, had three steals and dished outfive assists.

Ken Haynes led Dexter with 25 points.

Dexter 59, West Lincoln 40

The Lady Bulldogs built a 23-13 halftime lead, thenproceeded to outscore West Lincoln (8-17, 6-6) 36-26 in the finalhalf.

Dana King hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with23 points. She also added six assists and threesteals.

Yshenkia Haynes led Dexter with 17 points.
