Jags nip Hornets 7-6

MCCOMB – The North Pike Jaguars held off a late-rally by theLoyd Star Hornets for a 7-6 win Wednesday in the McComb Coca-ColaTournament at Rotary Field.

A grand slam home run by Hornet Adam Speeg powered a six-run,fifth-inning rally by Loyd Star who fell one run short of the tiein the seventh.

Buddy Van Norman got the win, striking out 15 batters andwalking six. Cass Brister absorbed the loss with two strikeouts inthe final two innings. Starter Blake Wall recorded onestrikeout.

Phillip Coffey paced North Pike with a double and a single. VanNorman singled twice. Doubling were J. R. Alexander and JoshMatthews. Buddy Eldridge singled.

Loyd Star got two singles from Brad Britt. Chase Coley, JaredBritt and Speeg hit safely.
