Co-Lin wins pair at S’West

SUMMIT – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves fastpitch softball team sweptthe Southwest Lady Bears two South Division games Saturday in thedrizzling rain.

Co-Lin won the opener 5-3 and the finale 9-1.

Rachel Bergold was the winning pitcher in both games. Bergoldstruck out seven, walked four and allowed three runs on seven hitsin the opener. In the second game, she fanned two batters, walkedsix and allowed one

Co-Lin 5, Southwest 3

The Lady Wolves led the Lady Bears 3-2 after four innings.Co-Lin outscored Southwest 2-1 in the final two innings to securethe win.

Leading the Lady Wolves with two hits apiece were Janet Chapmanand Tonya Johns. Jenny Chapman, Tiffani Coquat, Sarah Reynolds andChristy Wallace singled.

Co-Lin 9, Southwest 1

Co-Lin jumped on Southwest for a 6-1 lead after four innings ofplay.

The Lady Wolves got a double apiece from Tamara West, DavinaSandifer and Wallace. Singling twice was Johns. Bergold, JennyChapman, Kristi Moak and Reynolds hit safely.

The Co-Lin women visits Jones County today and host East CentralWednesday. Game time is 1 p.m. for the doubleheaders.
