Services for Barney V. Lewis of Gautier were 10 a.m., Tuesday,May 8, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel with burial in BiloxiNational Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Lewis, 78, died May 5, 2001, at Gautier. He was born inMcCall Creek on Nov. 3, 1922, to Bud and Virgie Lewis. He was agraduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

He was a retired independent realtor broker. He was retired as amajor from the Army after 21 years service and was a veteran ofWWII. He had worked for the State Employment Service and had servedas a councilman in Gautier.

He was a member of Masonic Temple #633, Eastern Star 395, JoppaShrine Temple 32nd degree, and Gautier Rotary and Civitan Clubs. Hewas a member of First Baptist Church in Gautier.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, NormanLewis.

Survivors are his wife, Kathryn M. Formby Lewis of Gautier; hisdaughters, Linda Meylan of Hattiesburg and Karen Leasure of St.Martin; his sons, Barney V. Lewis Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.,Kieth Lewis of Gautier, and John Patrick Lewis of Renton, Wash.;his brother, James J. Lewis of Baytown, Texas; and sixgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces andnephews.
