Services for Jimmy Gordon Thames of Monticello are 11 a.m.,Friday, May 18, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inPleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thames, 55, died May 15, 2001, at his residence. He was bornin Columbia on July 6, 1945, to Kermit and Bennie BlackwellThames.

He was a safety medic with Helmerich & Paine Offshore. Hewas a graduate of Monticello High School and Co-Lin CommunityCollege and received a B.S. degree from Midwestern State Universityin Wichita Falls, Texas. He was honorably discharged from the U. S.Air Force in 1972. Prior to his employment with Helmerich &Paine, he was personnel director and EMT for 15 years with King’sDaughters Hospital in Brookhaven. He was captain of Lawrence CountyDistrict 3 (Topeka Center) Volunteer Fire Department. He was amember of the Brookhaven Moose Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister,April.

Survivors are his wife, Brenda Thames of Monticello; his son,Joseph Gordon Thames of Bellefontaine, Ohio; his son-in-law, MarkBrister of Ruth; his stepson-in-law, Donnie Hodges of McComb; hisdaughter, Andrea T. Brister of Ruth; his stepdaughter, KimberlyHodges of McComb; his grandson, Austin Alan Brister of Ruth; hisstepgrandchildren, Whitney and Christopher Hodges of McComb; andhis niece, Anna Tew of Chunchula, Ala.
