Services for Avis Freeman Laird of Natchez are 2 p.m. Monday,May 21, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in MiddletonCreek Primary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, May 20, from 5-9 p.m. and Monday, May 21,from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Laird, 82, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Natchez CommunityHospital. She was born in Amite County on March 28, 1919, to thelate Alex and Mada Westbrook Bass.

She was retired from State Hospital in Jackson, La. She was amember of Middleton Creek Primary Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, Claude FreemanSr.; husband, Earl Laird; and two daughters.

Survivors are her sons, Claude Freeman Jr. and Wilburn Freemanof Liberty and Jerry Freeman of Greensburg, La.; brothers, HiltonBass and J.C. Bass of Smithdale; sisters, Dorothy Graham ofZachary, La., and Rena Hosto of Chicago; ten grandchildren; and 17great-grandchildren.
