Services for Ruby Lee Smith Hammill of Poplarville, formerly ofBrookhaven, are 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Brookhaven Funeral HomeChapel with burial in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hammill, 86, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Pearl RiverCounty Nursing Home in Poplarville. She was born in Lincoln Countyon Nov. 9, 1914, to Hughey Isom and Mollie Smith Smith.

She was a retired school teacher and former assistant librarianat the Lincoln County Public Library. She was a member of FirstBaptist Church of Brookhaven. She was a graduate of Copiah-LincolnCommunity College.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HaroldMiller Hammill; her son, Derrell Hammill; and her brothers, ElmerSmith, Willie Smith, Frank Smith, Hugh Smith, Bracie Smith, andGrover Smith.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Miller and NormaJean Lewis Hammill of Poplarville; her brother, Robert Smith ofBrookhaven; her granddaughters, Jennifer Hammill Rebich of Brandonand Dr. Melanie Hammill Bishop of Summit; and agreat-granddaughter, Anna Miller Rebich of Brandon.
