Bude gets new mayor

BUDE — After all the ballots were finally counted Wednesdayafternoon, Mayor Glenn F. Zumbro was defeated by 52 votes in hisquest to serve another term, according to complete, but unofficialresults.
Arthur (Mac) Littleton received 240 votes, compared to 188 votesfor Zumbro, to put him in line to take the mayor’s seat.
Bude voters had to wait longer than other towns holdingelections Tuesday to find out the final results because 50affidavit ballots were not counted until noon Wednesday.
Before the Wednesday county, Littleton had 203 votes and Zumbrohad 169.
Incumbent Alderman-at-large Norma Jean Kelly successfully ranfor another term, receiving 203 votes. John A. Farris had 144, andGerettia Buie got 65 votes.
In the Ward Four race, incumbent Shanna H. Jackson’s 61 voteswas enough to pull her ahead of challengers Thelma Shaw, who had 33votes, Linda Green Amos with 25 votes, and Fannie M. Brown, whoreceived 20 votes.
Ward Three voters saw a close race as Alderman Tommy A. GibbsSr. defeated his challenger, James M. Griffith Sr., by just 14votes. Gibbs received 53 votes to Griffith’s 39.
Ward One Alderman Michael Goff and Ward Two Alderman GeorgePrice were unopposed. They received 89 and 78 votes,respectively.
