Services for Carrie Byrd of Wesson are 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9,at Old St. John M. B. Church with burial in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation is today from noon until 8 p.m. with the wake servicefrom 7-8 p.m. at Tyler Funeral Home. Visitation resumes at 1 p.m.Saturday at the church until service time.

Mrs. Byrd, 91, died June 5, 2001, at her residence. She was bornin Wesson on Aug. 10, 1909, to Parker Gilmore and JessieGilmore.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Old St. John M. B.Church, where she served as a deaconess, usher, and was a member ofthe Missionary Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joe Byrd;her sons, the Rev. Earnest Byrd and Bobby Byrd; her daughter, SelmaQuarles; her brothers, Frank, Lamar, Bennie, Louis, Versie, andHenry; and her sisters, Jessie Bell Hicks and Mary Nell White.

Survivors are her sons, Bennie Byrd of Wichita, Kan., Joe ParkerByrd of Chicago, Jimmie Byrd of Wesson, and Willie Byrd of W.Sacramento, Calif.; her daughters, Doretha Ailes of Wesson, EdnaByrd Harris of Jackson; her brother, J. P. Gilmore of Hazlehurst;her sister, Zadie Barner of Wesson; and 46 grandchildren, and ahost of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces andnephews.
