Co-Lin’s Carlton fires 72 in national golf tourney

CHAUTAUGUA, N.Y. – Co-Lin sophomore John Carlton marched to aneven par 72 Thursday in the third round of the NJCAA Division IIINational Golf Tournament. Carlton’s performance vaulted him into atie for sixth in individual scores with a 3-round total of 225 atthe Chautaugua Golf Club.

The Co-Lin team has posted a 937 total after three rounds,giving the Wolves a tie for fifth. Coach Chuck Holloway’s Co-Linsquad trails front runner Eastfield Community College (910) ofMesquite, Texas, by 27 strokes. In second place is Rock Valley(Ill.) with a 920, followed by Central Lakes at 926 and ColumbusState at 928.

Co-Lin freshman Matt Mooney of Brookhaven shot 80 yesterday andstands at 231, tied for 22nd. Teammate Wesley Rogers also shot 80and has a 239 total after 3 rounds. Paxton Lee shot 82 and has a242 entering today’s final round.
