Burglary suspect jailed here

A Monticello man is facing charges after being arrested by theLincoln County Sheriff’s Department in connection with a Fridaymorning house burglary, said authorities.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residenceFriday on Rogers Lane when the homeowner, whose name was notreleased, discovered a Ruger 44-caliber revolver, Browning 12-gaugeshotgun and Lorcin 25-caliber handgun missing from his home,according to Investigator Steve Rushing.

The homeowner suspected Mark Pace, 32, of Monticello, a recentvisitor to the home, as the culprit, said Rushing.

Authorities discovered that the Louisiana Department ofCorrections also had a warrant for Pace’s arrest for probationviolation.

Sheriff’s deputies combed the Brookhaven area Friday in searchof the suspect, said Rushing.

“We found him in some apartments just north of town,” he added.”When they picked him up there, one of the guns from the residencewas with him.”

Pace was arrested and charged with one count of burglary and onecount of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along withthe Louisiana charges.

He is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on a $25,000bond.

After his arrest, the other two guns were discovered at the homeof an acquaintance in Brookhaven, said Rushing.
