Lincoln County has been reimbursed over $83,000 for storm damageassistance costs earlier this year and a little more is expected, said Civil Defense Director Clifford Galey.

“We’ve got the federal part of it,” Galey said about disasterassistance funds to cover the county’s costs of responding tostorms that damaged roads and bridges in February and March.

Total county funds spent on storm help totaled $110,421. Thedisaster assistance reimbursement is on a 75 percent federal-25percent local basis.

The 25 percent match totals $26,818. Half of that, $13,409, willcome from the state and the other half will be the county’scontribution, Galey said.

The state funds are expected, but supervisors and county crewsare still working on some lingering storm-related road and bridgeactivities.

“They’ll get the state funds when they finish all the projects,”Galey said.

Galey said some debris removal could not be done until dryweather arrived, and some road work remained. Final paper work willalso have to be turned in.

The county match will be mostly in-kind labor, Galey said.

“They have to do the work no matter what,” Galey said.

The federal funding reimbursement covered personnel andequipment costs for crews in all five supervisor districts, personnel for the sheriff’s department and equipment usage bycounty volunteer fire departments.

District 3, which had several bridges damaged during the storms, received the largest share of the federal reimbursement. Thedistrict got $56,142.

Galey said seven volunteer fire departments participated instorm assistance efforts. The Loyd Star Volunteer Fire Departmentwas the exception.

“They didn’t have anything in their area, nothing to respondto,” Galey said.

Volunteer fire department shares of the reimbursement fundsranged from $115 to $200, Galey said.

“Every little bit helps,” he said.
