Services for J. K. Laird of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Friday, July13, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New ProspectBaptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5-10 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Laird, 71, died July 11, 2001, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on Jan. 21, 1930, to Lewis H. Laird and Lula B.McFadden Laird. He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School.

He was retired from Keystone Seneca with 32 years service. Hewas a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his aunt, FrankieP. Watts.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Dixon Laird of Brookhaven; hissons and daughters-in-law, George Laird, Billy and Cindy Laird,Dwaine and Carolyn Laird, and James Herman and Alma Laird, all ofBrookhaven; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and David Gill ofBrookhaven; his aunt, Ellen Hudson of Cuthbert, Ga.; and hisgrandchildren, Michael Laird, Jake Laird, Jonathan Laird, CarolineLaird, Jennifer Laird Ezell, Breann Laird, Candace Laird, JeffreyGill and Matthew Gill.

Pallbearers will be Brian Terry, Ricky Sykes, Glen Dixon,Michael Laird, Jay Ezell, and John Burnett. Honorary pallbearerswill be T. J. Smith, Ed Lambright, G. B. Smith, Terrell Smith,David Peavey, and Carroll Bruce Dunn.
