Woman reported missing

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating aBrookhaven woman who has been missing since Sunday night.

She was identified as Bernice Marie Smith, 41, of 710 WilliamsSt.

Nolan Jones, assistant Brookhaven police chief, said Smithwalked away from her home between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday andhas not been seen since. Her direction of travel was not known.

“She is on medication, but she did not take it with her,” Jonessaid.

Smith, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, was described as alight-complected black woman and was wearing blue jean shorts andslip-on sneakers. A description of her shirt was not available.

Jones said Smith has been entered on the National CrimeInformation Computer (NCIC) as a missing person.

Jones said Smith would frequently walk along Brookway Boulevard.In the past, he said she would walk away from her home and returnseveral hours later.

“This time she hasn’t shown back up,” Jones said.

Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts is encouraged tocontact the Brookhaven Police Department at 833-2424.
